The BOLD (Say it Loud)
2020 is coming to an end. To commemorate, I’m stitching this fantastic cross stitch pattern from Etsy seller GrandmaBeWildin.
A dumpster fire indeed.
I’ve been noticing a lot of people saying that they are ready for 2021 already. It reminds me that we were saying something similar at the end of 2019 as we anticipated tension and watched the devastating fires in Australia.
Hmm. Be careful what you wish for? No, be careful what you create. For all of the things that were removed from our hands this year, we still had plenty of agency to make decisions and to respond to the outward pressures. And we have choices about how we choose to set our lives up for success.
What we say matters because it determines where we will end up. Language describes the past and it also provides the scaffolding for a new future.
For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice.

The Whisper (Say it Clear)
On Friday I will be presenting to the phenomenal FABWomen group and we will be discussing the four corners of your launchpad. We are going to discuss the four essential areas of life that must be in balance in order to have a stable launchpad for your biggest rockets of contribution and impact. For a sneak preview, you can read this article.
To create the habits and systems that will support us in these key areas, we begin by making declarations.
A declaration is a statement that puts a fine point on a concept, commitment or desire in such a way that we are firmly committed to making the declaration true.
“I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth.”
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”
“We don’t need no education.”
These quotes, by John F. Kennedy, the founders of the constitution and Pink Floyd, all reflect an essential element of the declaration. The declaration may not be true when it is spoken but the promise of its future truth is the reason that we make it.
Our words have the power to make something new possible and our actions have the power to make our words true.
What declarations do you need to make to support the kind of life you want to live, the kind of person you want to be, the kind of experiences you want to have in 2021?

You are so welcome. I’m really enjoying it. I’m almost done with the flames and I anticipate finishing the dumpster in some of my downtime next week. Such a playful way to reflect on this year and mark the occasion. I’m so glad I purchased the kit!
